XPLR Merch Design
Youtubers Sam and Colby are passionate of exploring abandoned places and traveling to investigate paranormal locations. Thinking out of the box, goal getters, always accomplishing what they speak on into a reality. This contest was an opportunity to create an imagery that connects into what they love doing and in a form represent them.
Spring 2022
Task
It was a design contest giveaway for their XPLR club members app. To create an original design for a hoodie or a t-shirt, and get the chance to win a $200 gift card and your design on their website. Contestants were provided with design assets to use as templates and their logos.
Strategy
Research video and social media content. List the qualities of the youtubers and what they like to film.

INITIAL IDEAS
These creatures were handrawn through a tablet with a grunge brush tool, made out of their names first initials being S and C. The idea came about creating a creature that would be related to the darkness and the unknown. Being a mix of a Death’s — Head Hawkmoth and ghosts; one specific ghost being the shadow man, who these youtubers have spoken about and experienced seeing it. Experimented on different directions the letters could be placed and combined into one figure, to visualize the shapes and if it would work to be able to create the form of these creatures.
